Canon's CaseData eDiscovery Platform Offers Keyword Reporting
Canon Business Process Services, Inc. (Canon), a leading provider of managed services and technology, today announced that it has enhanced its CaseData® web-based document review system with keyword reporting and new database management tools. For law firms and corporate legal departments that have the capability and desire to be more autonomous in using CaseData without tapping the consulting support provided as part of the CaseData subscription service, these new enhancements offer that greater control.
With keyword reporting capability, attorneys can more efficiently discover relevant information while reducing document review time. A critical component that advances the process of refining search strategies, keyword reporting allows legal professionals to provide CaseData with lists of keywords and patterns. CaseData then executes searches and provides reports containing information that helps identify false positives, along with statistics that illustrate the effectiveness of each term. By combining this type of information with an iterative process of testing and sampling, users can achieve their discovery goals more effectively.
The keyword reporting function is fully transparent and logs each search. This allows attorneys to apply the lessons learned through their keyword refinement to new information as it is added to CaseData. The logging and reporting capability also enables users to share search results and knowledge gained with other parties involved in the discovery process, such as opposing counsel and the courts.
In addition to keyword reporting, CaseData offers new database management tools. A common practice in discovery is to use database fields to record decisions as well as categorize and organize documents. Typically during the discovery process legal professionals need to modify the value of one of these fields for a large number of documents. For users who prefer to oversee this type of database management activity more autonomously, CaseData’s new tools provide them the ability to do so.
